A truck carrying around 100 monkeys that crashed in Pennsylvania is now sparking fears of infection after a woman who came into contact with the primates began to feel unwell.

Michelle Fallon, from Danville near Scranton, was driving directly behind the vehicle when it crashed, throwing animal crates all over the highway and smashing some to pieces.

Four of the animals escaped and were seen sitting among the wreckage before they fled.

Fallon said she got out to help both the driver and the animals in their cages, initially believing them to be cats. When she approached and put her hand on the cage, she says the monkey hissed at her.

The day following the accident, Fallon suddenly developed a cough and pink-eye, which became so bad that she had to visit the emergency room at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Infectious disease doctors gave her the first of four rabies injections together with some anti-viral drugs.

She said on Facebook that she was monitoring for symptoms of rabies and monkey herpes virus B.

You’ll definitely want that 18th booster shot if you see a mushroom cloud outside your window.

President Joe Biden is considering deploying several thousand U.S. troops, as well as warships and aircraft, to NATO allies in the Baltics and Eastern Europe, an expansion of American military involvement amid mounting fears of a Russian incursion into Ukraine, according to administration officials.

In a meeting Saturday at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, senior Pentagon officials presented Biden with several options that would shift American military assets much closer to Putin’s doorstep, the administration officials said. The options include sending 1,000 to 5,000 troops to Eastern European countries, with the potential to increase that number tenfold if things deteriorate.

Fed Study on Digital Currency

January 21st, 2022

The real motivation for a state issued digital currency is the desire to link it to a social credit system. Look at China. If the U.S. does a digital dollar, and it becomes required, that would be the final nail in the coffin.

Via: ABC:

The Federal Reserve on Thursday released a highly anticipated report on central bank digital currencies that suggested it is leaning toward having banks and other financial firms, rather than the Fed itself, manage digital accounts for customers.

A central bank digital currency would differ in some key ways from the online and digital payments that millions of Americans already conduct. Those transactions are funneled through banks, which wouldn’t be necessary with a digital dollar.

The Fed’s paper stressed that no final decisions about a digital currency have been reached. But it suggested that a digital currency that “would best serve the needs” of the nation would follow an “intermediated model” under which banks or payment firms would create accounts or digital wallets.

The Fed characterized the potential introduction of a digital currency as a step that could have far-reaching consequences for banks and other financial firms as well as for the central bank itself.

“The introduction of a (central bank digital currency) would represent a highly significant innovation in American money,” the study said. The Fed said it “could fundamentally change the structure of the U.S. financial system, altering the roles and responsibilities of the private sector and the central bank.”

Airlines Ask Biden to Delay 5G Rollout, Warn of ‘Catastrophic Aviation Crisis’

Executives from the biggest U.S. airlines asked the Biden administration for “immediate intervention” in today’s scheduled rollout of 5G technology near major airports, warning of an impending “catastrophic” aviation crisis when AT&T and Verizon deploy new 5G service.

Numerous international airlines in response canceled flights to certain U.S. airports — one suspended travel indefinitely — citing concerns over the upcoming 5G deployment and worries that some aircraft haven’t been cleared to fly into airports with 5G signals.

In a letter obtained by Reuters, the representatives of 10 carriers asked President Biden to delay the rollout near airports subject to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight restrictions once the technology is deployed.

Florida Department of Health Suspends Medical Director for Encouraging Staff to Get Vaccinated

January 19th, 2022

Via: Business Insider:

The Florida Department of Health suspended a top medical director on Tuesday after he sent an email to staffers encouraging them to get vaccinated.

Dr. Raul Pino, the director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, wrote in a January 4 email that he was concerned that only 219 out of 568 staff members had received two doses of the vaccine, the Associated Press and Central Florida News reported.

“I am sorry but in the absence of reasonable and real reasons, it is irresponsible not to be vaccinated,” Pino wrote, the AP reported. “We have been at this for two years, we were the first to give vaccines to the masses, we have done more than 300,000 and we are not even at 50% — pathetic.”

“I have a hard time understanding how we can be in public health and not practice it,” he added, Central Florida News reported.

The Florida Department of Health confirmed that Pino was put on administrative leave and said it will be investigating whether any laws were broken by sending the email.

“As the decision to get vaccinated is a personal medical choice that should be made free from coercion and mandates from employers, the employee in question (Pino) has been placed on administrative leave,” Department of Health press secretary Jeremy Redfern said in a statement, News 6 reported.

Last year Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis barred government agencies and private businesses from implementing vaccine mandates.

England: Government Ends Mask Rules and COVID Passes

England’s Plan B measures are to end from next Thursday, with mandatory face coverings in public places and Covid passports both dropped, Boris Johnson has announced.

The prime minister also said the government would immediately drop its advice for people to work from home.

But, he said, this should not be seen as the “finish line” because the virus and future variants cannot be eradicated – instead “we must learn to live with Covid in the same way we live with flu”.

“Vehicle Kill Switches” By 2026 [???]

January 19th, 2022

Via: ZeroHedge:

The rumors we first reported on back in December have turned out to be true: the United States federal government is apparently in the process of trying to force automakers to install kill switches in their vehicles that authorities can use to shut down any newer vehicle.

The law comes as part of President Biden’s infrastructure bill, which was recently signed into law, according to Yahoo. The government kill switch is – like all good thefts of civil liberties – being positioned as a “safety measure”. The mandate needs to be put into effect by 2026, Muscle Cars & Trucks reported.
