Florida Gov. DeSantis Says Lockdowns Were a ‘Huge Mistake’

April 17th, 2021

Via: Epoch Times:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a statewide stay-at-home order on April 1 last year, locking down the Sunshine State for 30 days amid global panic about the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus outbreak. Sitting in his office exactly one year later, he told The Epoch Times that the lockdowns were a “huge mistake,” including in his own state.

“We wanted to mitigate the damage. Now, in hindsight, the 15 days to slow the spread and the 30—it didn’t work,” DeSantis said. “We shouldn’t have gone down that road.”

The governor fully reopened Florida on Sept. 25, 2020. When cases began to rise as part of the winter surge, he didn’t reimpose any restrictions. While lockdown proponents forecasted doom and gloom, DeSantis stood his ground.

The governor’s persistence wasn’t a leap of faith. Less than two weeks after Florida’s full reopening in late September, scientists from Stanford, Harvard, and Oxford universities went public with the Great Barrington Declaration, which disavowed lockdowns as a destructive and futile mitigation measure. The declaration, which has since been signed by 13,985 medical and public health scientists, calls on public officials to adopt the focused protection approach—the exact strategy employed by DeSantis.

Despite dire predictions about the pandemic in Florida, DeSantis has been vindicated. On April 1, Florida ranked 27th among all states in deaths per capita from the CCP virus, commonly known as COVID-19.

The Russia-Afghanistan Bounties Story Was Bullshit

April 17th, 2021

Russia clowns to the left of me, Q jokers to the right. Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Via: New York Post:

The US government on Thursday downplayed a bombshell report that Russia may have placed bounties on US troops in Afghanistan — but White House press secretary Jen Psaki dodged questions about whether President Biden regrets attacking former President Donald Trump over the issue.

A senior administration official told a group of reporters that the US intelligence community “assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks [on] U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier.”

The allegation that Russia offered cash to the Taliban to kill US troops was politically explosive last year during the presidential campaign. Biden repeatedly attacked Trump for not punishing Russia over the claim.

Scientists Report Creating the First Embryo With Human and Non-Human Primate Cells

April 16th, 2021

Via: Time:

In a ground-breaking experiment, researchers have successfully created the first human-monkey chimera. The work, published in the journal Cell, describes the the first embryo containing both human and monkey cells that was cultured for 20 days. Led by Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, the study represents the culmination of decades of work in understanding early embryo development in non-human species, which Belmonte hopes will now apply to humans. But it is bound to raise serious ethical questions about the implications of combining human cells with those from a different species (even if it is a closely related one), and the report was accompanied by commentary from ethicists on how the work should be interpreted and what the careful next steps should be in pursuing this line of study.

‘Invasion Stripes’ on Russian Military Vehicles Near Ukraine [???]

April 16th, 2021

It would be nice to see photos or video of the vehicles from above. I couldn’t find any other photos or video besides what is in the piece below.

Via: Express:

RUSSIA has stoked fears about a looming conflict with Ukraine after pictures emerged of military vehicles decorated with ‘invasion stripes’, amid claims Vladimir Putin has now deployed more than 100,000 troops close to the border.

The clip shows a column of BTR 80 armoured personnel carriers, each with a white cross painted across the top.

During the cold war, Russian soldiers would paint similar crosses on their tanks and other materiel in order to distinguish them from those of their opponents, who were also equipped with Soviet-made machinery.

Such an approach was used when the USSR invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968.

Pfizer CEO Says Third Covid Vaccine Dose Likely Needed Within 12 Months

April 15th, 2021

Mmm hmm. Tell me another one.

Never forget: Justice Department Announces Largest Health Care Fraud Settlement in Its History:

American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. and its subsidiary Pharmacia & Upjohn Company Inc. (hereinafter together “Pfizer”) have agreed to pay $2.3 billion, the largest health care fraud settlement in the history of the Department of Justice, to resolve criminal and civil liability arising from the illegal promotion of certain pharmaceutical products, the Justice Department announced today.

Via: CNBC:

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said people will “likely” need a booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of getting fully vaccinated. His comments were made public Thursday but were taped April 1.

Bourla said it’s possible people will need to get vaccinated against the coronavirus annually.

“A likely scenario is that there will be likely a need for a third dose, somewhere between six and 12 months and then from there, there will be an annual revaccination, but all of that needs to be confirmed. And again, the variants will play a key role,” he told CNBC’s Bertha Coombs during an event with CVS Health.

“It is extremely important to suppress the pool of people that can be susceptible to the virus,” Bourla said.

The comment comes after Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky told CNBC in February that people may need to get vaccinated against Covid-19 annually, just like seasonal flu shots.

‘Young, Healthy’ South Mississippi Man Suffers Stroke Hours After Receiving J&J Vaccine

Via: WLBT:

When the news broke about the pause of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Tuesday, one Coast family was already living with a tragedy they believe was caused by the vaccine.

It started out as a normal day for 43-year-old Brad Malagarie of St. Martin. This busy father of seven spent the morning at his D’Iberville office before heading to get a Johnson & Johnson vaccine a little after noon.

He returned to work, and within three hours coworkers noticed he was unresponsive at his desk.

“They called me and said he had that vaccine and something is wrong, we think it’s a stroke,” said Celeste Foster O’Keefe, Malagarie’s aunt.

Denmark’s top health official suddenly fainted at a press conference Wednesday announcing the country would be halting use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Video of the briefing shows Tanja Erichsen, the head of Denmark’s Medicines Agency, standing in front of reporters and then collapsing without warning, BBC News reported.

Three men rush to her aid, including one who tries to raise her legs up. The others are seen moving Erichsen to her side.

She was taken to the hospital as a precaution and recovered.

The country became the first in Europe to fully shelve the AstraZeneca vaccine in light of recent links to blood clots.

April 14th, 2021

Via: New York Post:

The man whose body was found floating in the Hudson River Monday has been identified as a mathematician working with cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence, according to police sources and his “devastated” family.

Sources identified the remains found off West 45th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattan as Shuvro Biswas, 31, adding that there were no immediately apparent signs of foul play.

Biswas’ brother told The Post that he and his family were gutted by the news, noting that they’d tried in vain to get Biswas help as he battled apparent mental illness.

Vitamin D and COVID 19: The Evidence for Prevention and Treatment of Coronavirus (SARS CoV 2)

April 14th, 2021

This is the best Vitamin D / COVID presentation I’ve found so far. I’m astonished that this hasn’t been removed from YouTube. If I had to guess: Google might have determined that censoring it would only draw more attention to it.

In any event, I’d suggest saving this locally.

Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Buys Microsoft Ahead of Big Govt Contract

April 14th, 2021

Via: The Street:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband purchased millions of dollars worth of Microsoft (MSFT) and Roblox (RBLX) shares last month, new financial disclosures form reveal.

Paul Pelosi exercised call options and paid $1.95 million to buy 15,000 shares of Microsoft at a strike price of $130 on March 19, according to an April 9th filing with the House clerk. That same day, Pelosi, who owns and operates a California venture capital investment and consulting firm, paid $1.4 million for 10,000 shares valued at $140 apiece.

Since Pelosi made the purchase, Microsoft share prices have climbed from about $230 to roughly $255 – an increase of close to 11% – after the company secured a lucrative government contract worth nearly $22 billion to supply U.S. Army combat troops with augmented reality headsets. The deal was announced on March 31.
