No Opting Out of DHS Face Scanning
November 1st, 2025Via: 404 Media:
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) does not let people decline to be scanned by its new facial recognition app, which the agency uses to verify a person’s identity and their immigration status, according to an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document obtained by 404 Media. The document also says any face photos taken by the app, called Mobile Fortify, will be stored for 15 years, including those of U.S. citizens.
Judges Order Trump Admin To Use Emergency Funds For Food Assistance
October 31st, 2025Via: ZeroHedge:
Two judges have stepped in over the federal government suspension of food-aid benefits for tens of millions of Americans set to end on Nov. 1 amid the shutdown.
On Friday, US District Judge John McConnell of Rhode Island announced that he would order the US Department of Agriculture to distribute a pool of contingency funds “as soon as possible.”
While minutes before, Boston US District Judge Indira Talwani ruled that the US government must announce by Nov. 3 whether they would authorize at least partial funding for the program using around $6 billion in contingency funds – and if so, when will they do it.
McConnell’s order is related to a case brought by Democrat-led cities and nonprofits who sought to keep federal funds flowing the the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), while Talwani’s case was brought by over two dozen Democratic states and the District of Columbia.
Which, of course, completely takes pressure off Congress to find a speedy resolution to the ongoing shutdown. We’re sure judges will simply order federal employees to be paid, effectively un-shutting-down the government.
Data Centers in Orbit?
October 31st, 2025Via: Ars Technica:
As artificial intelligence drives the need for vastly more computing storage and processing power, interest in space-based data centers has spiked.
Although several startup companies, such as Starcloud, have begun to address this problem, the idea has also attracted the interest of tech barons. In May, it emerged that former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt acquired Relativity Space due to his interest in space-based data centers. Then, earlier this month, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos predicted that gigawatt-scale data centers will be built in space within the next 10 to 20 years.
Now, Elon Musk, whose SpaceX owns and operates significantly more space-based infrastructure than any other company or country in the world, has also expressed interest in the technology.

Bill Gates Admits Climate Change Won’t End World
October 31st, 2025Via: ZeroHedge:
In the late 1970s, after ‘global cooling’ armageddon science fell out of fashion, a well-oiled machine comprised of billionaire-funded NGOs, the MSM, Hollywood, woke Wall Street, and a robust fact-checking / censorship cartel – started pushing a cult narrative about the planet’s imminent demise in a hellish inferno of global warming. They’ve blamed everything from cow farts and Taylor Swift’s private jet to two-stroke chainsaws, petrol-powered cars, and whatever else these climate Marxists wanted banned – and forced people into authoritarian bullshit like ‘electric stoves only’ and ’15 minute cities’ and ‘eat the bugs,’ etc.
Now, as data centers are coincidentally projected to need record amounts of electricity, Bill Gates has changed his mind about all of that.
Top Trump Officials Are Moving Onto Military Bases
October 30th, 2025Via: The Atlantic:
There are scattered examples from previous administrations of Cabinet members residing on bases. Both Robert Gates, defense secretary under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and Jim Mattis, Trump’s first Pentagon chief, lived in Navy housing at the Potomac Hill annex, a secure compound near the State Department. Mike Pompeo, CIA director and secretary of state during Trump’s first term, lived at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. The grand homes they occupied, some of which date back more than a century, offer officials an additional layer of security and ample space for official entertaining.
But there is no record of so many political appointees living on military installations. The shift adds to the blurring of traditional boundaries between the civilian and military worlds. Trump has made the military a far more visible element of domestic politics, deploying National Guard forces to Washington, Los Angeles, and other cities run by Democrats. He has decreed that those cities should be used as “training grounds” in the battle against the “enemy within.”
