Coronavirus: Half of Humanity Now on Lockdown

More than 3.9 billion people, or half of the world’s population, have now been asked or ordered to stay at home by their governments to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
Data from an AFP database collated compulsory or recommended confinements, curfews and quarantines in more than 90 countries or territories.
Due to the introduction of a curfew in Thailand (effective from Friday), the threshold of 50% of humanity will be reached.
The Military Knew Years Ago That a Coronavirus Was Coming

Despite President Trump’s repeated assertions that the Covid-19 epidemic was “unforeseen” and “came out of nowhere,” the Pentagon was well aware of not just the threat of a novel influenza, but even anticipated the consequent scarcity of ventilators, face masks, and hospital beds, according to a 2017 Pentagon plan obtained by The Nation.
“The most likely and significant threat is a novel respiratory disease, particularly a novel influenza disease,” the military plan states. Covid-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the novel (meaning new to humans) coronavirus. The document specifically references coronavirus on several occasions, in one instant saying, “Coronavirus infections [are] common around the world.”
RECORD 6.6 MILLION SEEK U.S. UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AS LAYOFFS MOUNT

More than 6.6 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week — doubling a record high set just one week earlier — a sign that layoffs are accelerating in the midst of the coronavirus.
The stunning report Thursday from the Labor Department showed that job cuts are mounting against the backdrop of economies in the United States and abroad that have almost certainly sunk into a severe recession as businesses close across the world.
Applications for unemployment benefits generally reflect the pace of layoffs. Combined with last week’s report that 3.3 million people sought unemployment aid two weeks ago, the U.S. economy has now suffered nearly 10 million layoffs in just the past several weeks — far exceeding the figure for any corresponding period on record.
100,000 Body Bags for “Mortuary Contingencies”

The Pentagon confirmed that it’s seeking to provide as many as 100,000 military-style body bags for potential civilian use as the U.S. warns that deaths could soar in the coming weeks from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has requested 100,000 body bags, known as Human Remains Pouches, through an interagency group that directed it to the Defense Department.
The Defense Logistics Agency “is currently responding to FEMA’s prudent planning efforts for 100,000 pouches to address mortuary contingencies on behalf of state health agencies,” Lieutenant Colonel Mike Andrews, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement Thursday confirming a Bloomberg News report.
He said “the Department of Defense and the Defense Logistics Agency have a longstanding arrangement with FEMA to procure key commodities from DLA’s industrial partners during crisis response operations.”
While the Pentagon works to buy more bags, it will draw some initially from a stockpile of 50,000 it maintains, according to two people familiar with the request.

I’m having a very hard time trying to grasp the scale and sophistication of what’s unfolding so rapidly before us.
At the individual level, Bill Gates, et al will be coming at us with needles. (Not happening, Bill.) There are countless middle range, police state/dictatorship/surveillance related measures going into place. Trillions of dollars (more) are going into the incinerator. Cash bad/carries disease/must-use-digital. Now, on the macroscale, there’s talk of Covid-19 saving the climate by destroying the oil industry???
While the origin of Covid-19 remains unclear (assuming that there is a novel disease at all), a terrifying, dystopian, multilateral response has sprung, fully formed, on to the scene… in the blink of an All-Seeing-Eye.

The plunging demand for oil wrought by the coronavirus pandemic combined with a savage price war has left the fossil fuel industry broken and in survival mode, according to analysts. It faces the gravest challenge in its 100-year history, they say, one that will permanently alter the industry. With some calling the scene a “hellscape”, the least lurid description is “unprecedented”.
A key question is whether this will permanently alter the course of the climate crisis. Many experts think it might well do so, pulling forward the date at which demand for oil and gas peaks, never to recover, and allowing the atmosphere to gradually heal.
