Trump Says U.S. Will Send More Weapons to Ukraine, After Halting Some Shipments
July 8th, 2025And now…
Via: CBS:
President Trump said Monday his administration will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine amid its war with Russia, days after pausing some weapons shipments.
“We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves,” Mr. Trump told reporters during a White House event with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night.
The president said the shipments will consist of “defensive weapons, primarily,” saying Ukraine is “getting hit very hard” and “so many people are dying in that mess.”
Trump: “Are You Still Talking About Jeffrey Epstein?”

REPORTER: Your memo and release yesterday regarding Jeffrey Epstein left some lingering mysteries. One of the biggest ones is whether he ever worked for an American or foreign intelligence agency.
The former Labor Secretary, who was the Miami U.S. Attorney—Alex Acosta—allegedly said Epstein worked for an intelligence agency.
Could you resolve whether or not he did? And why is there a minute missing from the jailhouse tape?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy has been talked about for years.
You’re asking—we have taxes, this, and all of the things—and you people are still talking about this guy? This creep?
That is unbelievable.

Osprey Atmos AG LT 65L Backpack
July 7th, 2025My wife and I bought an Osprey Atmos AG LT 65L backpack (Amazon Affiliate link) for our son on his fifteenth birthday. He’s a very avid hunter and outdoorsman and is ready for a big backpack like this.
My guess is that if you need something this serious, you already have it, but maybe you’re in the market for something new.
I don’t want to try to review this because it’s deep into overkill territory for anything I would ever need, or have ever needed. For decades, I used a U.S. ALICE LC1 field pack (medium) that I bought at a gun show in 1988. It was… not great. But because I used it rarely, I never bothered looking for anything better.
I’m sure my son would have been happy with a pack like that LC1 field pack, but since I’d been there-done-that, and Amazon mispriced the Osprey Atmos AG LT 65L, inadvertently applying a huge discount, I didn’t overthink it. The next day, I went back to buy another one, but Amazon realized what had happened and corrected the price. I was expecting them to cancel the order, but it arrived.
While not a review, I’ll briefly comment: This is an extremely high quality, lightweight, comfortable and well thought out backpack. Premium product. Premium price.
Compared to my 1980s era ALICE pack, this Osprey unit feels like something out of science fiction. You know, humans exploring some earth-like planet thousands of lightyears away… This Osprey pack is what they’d be wearing.
How about the warranty?

FBI on Epstein Operation: Nothing to See Here. Move Along.

Via: ZeroHedge:
Deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein and his colleague, Ghislaine Maxwell, were both charged by the Justice Department with sex trafficking—and Maxwell was convicted. But according to the DOJ, the two apparently didn’t have any clients.
In a bombshell FBI memo leaked to Axios and published Sunday night, officials said they’ve reviewed more than 300 gigabytes of Epstein evidence—and haven’t found any vast human trafficking or sexual blackmail operation.
“This systematic review revealed no incriminating ‘client list.’ There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions. We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties,” the unsigned memo said.
The FBI also reiterated its previous claim that Epstein did kill himself. In an attempt to demonstrate that Epstein’s cellblock was secure the night he purportedly killed himself, the FBI released footage from the one camera that was recording. However, the camera only showed a tiny sliver of a staircase leading to Epstein’s cell.

The Force-Feeding of AI on an Unwilling Public
July 6th, 2025I’ve been using Windows 11 for a short time and I was shocked to learn that I was able to simply uninstall Copilot. I was expecting a kludge of reg hacks combined with the group policy editor.
Nope. It just uninstalled. (For now…)

A few months ago, I needed to send an email. But when I opened Microsoft Outlook, something had changed.
Microsoft asked me to use Copilot to write my email. Copilot is my AI companion. (That’s the cute word they use.)

I get to use my AI companion 60 times per month as part of the deal.
But I don’t want to use it. I want to kill it.
Alberta: Video of Possible Ball Lightning Event
July 5th, 2025Via: Global News:
No injuries were reported after an intense night of stormy weather unfolded in central Alberta on Wednesday night, but once the storms passed, one couple was left with a strange video of something bright and shiny a few hundred metres from their home that they could not make sense of.
Ed Pardy told Global News that he and his wife Melinda stepped onto the back porch of their home near Rich Valley, Alta., just before 7 p.m. to get a closer look at the storm passing through which featured fierce lightning all around, and also at one point triggered tornado watches and warnings in the region.
“After a rather vicious lightning strike, we saw a ball of fire kind of … about 20 feet above the ground,” he recalled. “And it kind of stayed there in a big round ball.”
