Donald Trump became the first U.S. president to be convicted of a crime on Thursday when a New York jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to cover up a payment to silence a porn star ahead of the 2016 election.

After two days of deliberation, the 12-member jury pronounced Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts he faced.

Trump watched the jurors dispassionately as they were polled to confirm the unanimous verdict.

Justice Juan Merchan set sentencing for July 11, just days before the Republican Party is scheduled to formally nominate Trump for president ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

Negotiations for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) proposed “pandemic agreement” — or “pandemic treaty” — and amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) have failed, for now at least.

The New York Times reported that negotiators failed to submit final texts of the two documents before the May 24 deadline for consideration and a vote at this year’s World Health Assembly taking place this week in Geneva, Switzerland.

U.S. Bankrolling Creation of Deadlier, More Contagious Bird Flu Strains

May 30th, 2024

Via: The Defender:

U.S. health officials only recently admitted to funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China — but for decades, the U.S. government has funded the same type of dangerous research on bird flu in the U.S.

And that research continues today.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) — even the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — have funded or are funding research to make bird flu more pathogenic and/or more transmissible in mammals.

The WHO funded the May 2020 study, “Pandemic potential of highly pathogenic avian influenza clade 2.3.4.4 A(H5) viruses.” Collaborators included the CDC, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and other organizations. Webby and Yoshihiro Kawaoka, DVM, Ph.D. of the University of Wisconson are among the listed authors.

“That’s the huge danger of doing this work,” Hooker said. “Whether it’s an accidental or intentional release, you’re playing with these pathogens so that they’re basically creating variants that are infectious in humans.”

Secrets from the Algorithm: Google Search’s Internal Engineering Documentation Has Leaked

May 30th, 2024

Google Search is terrible. I stopped using it several years ago.

I’m posting this mainly as an FYI for anyone out there who still cares about what Google may or may not be doing with search.

Via: iPullRank:

Google spokespeople have gone out their way to misdirect and mislead us on a variety of aspects of how their systems operate in an effort to control how we behave as SEOs. I won’t go as far as calling it “social engineering” because of the loaded history of that term. Let’s instead go with… “gaslighting.”

Carmine De Rosa, one of the official artists at the event, appeared in a myriad of drag outfits along with some suggestive cardboard costumes and danced in front of an audience of children.

In a pink dress with a plunging neckline and full makeup, De Rosa shared on social media, “Today on stage at the Olympic stadium in Rome for World Children’s Day announced by Pope Francis. What a great emotion!”

What Nikki Haley Wrote on Artillery Shells During Visit to Israel Days After IDF’s Slaughter of Refugees

May 29th, 2024

Via: Daily Mail:

Former GOP presidential candidate and Donald Trump’s UN ambassador Nikki Haley wrote ‘finish them’ on an IDF shell in reference to Hamas just after the devastating attack on refugees in Rafah that left 45 people dead.

Haley, 52, was touring Israel’s northern border with Lebanon when the photo opportunity took place. The former governor of South Carolina also wrote: ‘America loves Israel.’

The picture was originally posted on X by Israel’s former UN ambassador, Danny Danon. Danon is a member of Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party and is considered a strong advocate for continued military operations against Hamas.

When asked about her message, Haley was defensive, using the opportunity instead to attack President Joe Biden, accusing him of withholding support for Israel in order to slow down the IDF operations in Rafah.

Haley was also critical of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice’s efforts to try the Israeli government for war crimes.
