Former Cloudflare executive John Graham-Cumming recently announced that he launched a website, lowbackgroundsteel.ai, that treats pre-AI, human-created content like a precious commodity—a time capsule of organic creative expression from a time before machines joined the conversation. “The idea is to point to sources of text, images and video that were created prior to the explosion of AI-generated content,” Graham-Cumming wrote on his blog last week. The reason? To preserve what made non-AI media uniquely human.
The archive name comes from a scientific phenomenon from the Cold War era. After nuclear weapons testing began in 1945, atmospheric radiation contaminated new steel production worldwide. For decades, scientists needing radiation-free metal for sensitive instruments had to salvage steel from pre-war shipwrecks. Scientists called this steel “low-background steel.” Graham-Cumming sees a parallel with today’s web, where AI-generated content increasingly mingles with human-created material and contaminates it.
With the advent of generative AI models like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion in 2022, it has become far more difficult for researchers to ensure that media found on the Internet was created by humans without using AI tools. ChatGPT in particular triggered an avalanche of AI-generated text across the web, forcing at least one research project to shut down entirely.
Taliban Fighters Brought to Britain on “Mercy Flights”

Former Taliban fighters are living in the UK after being airlifted from Afghanistan on British mercy flights, The Telegraph has been told.
The jihadists were allegedly among thousands of people brought here for their own safety because they were on a leaked list of names of Afghans who had applied to come to the UK.
Sex offenders, corrupt officials and people imprisoned under the US-led coalition are also among those who have been accepted for resettlement in the UK in an apparent failure of vetting procedures.

Sources describe a pattern where corrupt Afghan officials, rather than genuine British allies, were facilitating the evacuation of Taliban-connected individuals.
“We had a lot of corrupt officials,” another Afghan official said. “Those corrupt officials are now taking Taliban fighters to Britain rather than those who really worked for the UK. It’s depressing.”
The official claimed that UK personnel often seemed to rely on these corrupt individuals for consultation and recommendations, leading to the inclusion of Taliban-connected people on evacuation lists.

“A New World Order With European Values”: The Unholy Union of Globalism and Anti-Free Speech Measures

The message was clear. The new world order would be based on European, not American, values. To rally the faithful to the cause, the organizers called upon two of the patron saints of the global elite: Bill and Hillary Clinton. President Clinton was even given an award as “leader of the century.”
The Clintons were clearly in their element. Speaker after speaker denounced Trump and the rise of what they called “autocrats” and “oligarchs.” The irony was crushing. The European Union is based on the oligarchy of a ruling elite. The World Forum even took time to celebrate billionaires from Bill Gates to George Soros for funding “open societies” and greater transnational powers.
The discussions focused on blunting the rise of far-right parties and stemming the flow of “disinformation” that fosters such dissent.
Outside of this rarefied environment, the Orwellian language would border on the humorous: protecting democracy from itself and limiting free speech to foster free speech.
Yet, one aspect of the forum was striking and refreshingly open. This year it became clear why transnational governance gravitates toward greater limits on free speech.
Of course, all of this must be done in the name of democracy and free speech.
There is a coded language that is now in vogue with the anti-free speech community. They never say the word “censorship.” They prefer “content moderation.” They do not call for limiting speech. Instead, they call for limiting “false,” “hateful” or “inciteful” speech.
As for the rise of opposing parties and figures, they are referred to as movements by “low-information voters” misled by disinformation. Of course, it is the government that will decide what are acceptable and unacceptable viewpoints.

In an unorthodox approach to needle-free vaccines, researchers have developed a special kind of floss that can deliver proteins and inactive viruses to mice’s gumlines and trigger immune responses that protect against infectious disease, they report today in Nature Biomedical Engineering.
“I had honestly never thought of using floss as a vaccination strategy,” says Akiko Iwasaki, an immunologist at Yale University who was not involved in the work. “The results are quite impressive.”

Ghislaine Maxwell Granted Limited Immunity in Discussions with DOJ
July 26th, 2025The fact that Ghislaine Maxwell was never interviewed before this indicates a coverup at the highest levels inside the DOJ. (I know. You’re shocked.)
But why was she allowed to live? I’ve been very baffled by that ever since she was arrested.
Does she represent some sort of contingency plan, some sort of kabuki theater, that could be rolled out if necessary?

Maxwell reportedly initiated the sitdowns with the DOJ and answered questions for roughly nine hours, according to ABC News.
Fascinating timing.
Maxwell did this as former longtime Epstein friend and associate, Donald Trump, attempted a laughable gaslighting operation after his spectacular, “Are You Still Talking About Jeffrey Epstein?” disaster.
Trump’s attempt to declare case closed on the Epstein matter, without DOJ prosecuting, or even formally revealing, any of the perpetrators makes him look like he was in on all of it.
Queue Ghislaine Maxwell, and DOJ suddenly interested in what she has to say…

Notorious sex criminal Ghislaine Maxwell answered questions from Justice Department officials about “100 different people” linked to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, an attorney for the disgraced socialite claimed Friday following two days of interrogation led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche during which she was reportedly granted limited immunity.
David Oscar Markus told reporters that his client, currently serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted in Manhattan of federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges in December 2021, was “asked about every possible thing you could imagine – everything.”
“This was the first opportunity she’s ever been given to answer questions about what happened,” Markus added. “The truth will come out about what happened with Mr. Epstein and she’s the person who’s answering those questions.”

On March 28, a devastating magnitude 7.7 earthquake shook Myanmar. By chance, one camera caught a rare video, capturing the moment when the ground cracked and shifted in opposite directions.
CCTV footage along Myanmar’s Sagaing Fault—about 74.5 miles south of the earthquake’s hypocenter—shows the fault as it cracks and slides. This marks the first recording scientists have been able to observe that captures a fault in motion.

Think about it this way. What can a website on your browser really get from you? Unless you manually upload your contact information, or there’s a serious security vulnerability, a website’s access to your phone’s deeper functions is quite limited.
Apps, on the other hand, are a different beast entirely. They are designed to integrate much more deeply with your device. When you download an app and want to use a particular feature, you’re often prompted to grant various permissions. And let’s be honest, how many of us meticulously read through every single permission pop-up? Most of the time, we just tap “Allow” to get to what we want to do.
This seemingly small action can grant companies a treasure trove of information and control.

The fertility rate in the U.S. dropped to an all-time low in 2024 with fewer than 1.6 children being born per woman, federal data released Thursday shows.
The U.S. was once among only a few developed countries with a rate that ensured each generation had enough children to replace itself — about 2.1 kids per woman. But it has been sliding in America for close to two decades as more women are waiting longer to have children or never taking that step at all.
The new statistic is on par with fertility rates in western European countries, according to World Bank data.
