Israel Calls Up 60,000 Reservists Ahead Of Gaza City Takeover

Israeli media is reporting that around 60,000 Israeli reservists are set to receive call-up orders on Wednesday as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) gear up for a major assault on Gaza City.
A report in Times of Israel notes that reservists will have up to two weeks before going to their duty stations, but not all will be directly involved in the Gaza City offensive, as some are needed replace Israeli forces currently stationed in other parts of Gaza.
The controversial Netanyahu-ordered expanded offensive which aims to achieve total control of Gaza City is expected to displace over a million Palestinian civilians.
U.S. Military Preparing Attacks on Mexican Cartels

The Trump administration has directed the military to prepare for lethal strikes against cartel targets inside Mexico, three military sources tell us. The Top Secret planning order, issued in late Spring, directs Northern Command (NORTHCOM) to manage the attack plans, which are to be ready by mid-September.

But scientists in China are developing the world’s first ‘pregnancy robot’ capable of carrying a baby to term and giving birth.
The humanoid will be equipped with an artificial womb that receives nutrients through a hose, experts said.
A prototype is expected to be released next year, with a selling price of around 100,000 yuan (£10,000).
Dr Zhang Qifeng, who founded the company Kaiwa Technology, is developing the machine.

BlackRock chief executive Larry Fink has been appointed interim co-chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which organises the annual meeting of leaders in Davos, Switzerland.
Andre Hoffmann, the vice chairman of Swiss based healthcare company Roche Holding, will also be interim co-chairman of the WEF, according to an announcement on Friday.
“The world is more fragmented and complex than ever, but the need for a platform that brings together business, government, and civil society has never been greater,” Mr Fink and Mr Hoffmann said in a joint statement.
High End GPU Smuggling to China
August 18th, 2025This is a fascinating look into how GPU smuggling networks are getting around U.S. export restrictions to China.
This is long and probably not of much interest to most of you, but some will find it very interesting.
The part I found most incredible is how gaming-grade GPU silicon is being pulled from existing cards and built into new cards (on custom PCBs) with double the VRAM. Doubling the VRAM makes the cards more suitable for AI applications.
The most ridiculous/hilarious part of the story is the fact that some of the systems that aren’t allowed to be sold in China are made in China. So, while most of the cards get exported, some number of units are going out the side door and winding up in the domestic market.
