Arizona Trying to Stop Sales of T-Shirts with Names of Dead Soldiers

Would you like some freedom fries with that?

Via: Arizona Daily Star:

State lawmakers voted Monday to approve a law blocking the sale of anti-war T-shirts with the names of dead soldiers on them — a measure one media lawyer says is “unconstitutional about three or four different ways.”

The Senate agreed to make it punishable by up to a year in jail to use the names of deceased soldiers to help sell goods. The 28-0 vote sends SB 1014 to Gov. Janet Napolitano for her signature. The measure also would let families go to court to stop the sales and collect damages.

Dan Frazer, a Flagstaff businessman who is selling the T-shirts that caused all the fuss, said he doesn’t intend to stop selling the $20 shirts even if Napolitano signs the measure. He said it’s an illegal infringement on his First Amendment rights.

Selling t-shirts as a way to protest an oil-war? Only in America!

My guess is the dumbass deposits the money at a bank that turns around and invests it in the likes of Halliburton, like most of these bozos.

Now passing a law to prevent him from doing this is fascistic but it doesn’t negate the fool-assery of his endeavor. Unless the money is going to some sort of charity or something, which could be the case and was not-so-unintentionally omitted. But if he is indeed pocketing the money while I think he has the right to do so I think he needs a good karmic bitchslap.

Let the law go through. Then all the senators will have to go to jail for a year for using the names of the dead soldiers and everything else salesworthy about the occupation of Iraq to sell their empire to the poor saps who still believe in America uber alles.
