Three USAF F-15E Strike Eagles Shot Down By Friendly Fire
March 2nd, 2026Via: U.S. Central Command:
At 11:03 p.m. ET, March 1, three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles flying in support of Operation Epic Fury went down over Kuwait due to an apparent friendly fire incident.
During active combat—that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones — the U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses.
All six aircrew ejected safely, have been safely recovered, and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

William McCasland: Retired General Who Once Led Air Force Research Laboratory Goes Missing
March 2nd, 2026General McCasland

Subject: General McCaslandHe mentioned he’s a “skeptic”, he’s not. I’ve been working with him for four months. I just got done giving him a four hour presentation on the entire project a few weeks ago.
Trust me, the advice is already been happening on how to do all this. He just has to say that out loud, but he is very, very aware- as he was in charge of all of the stuff. When Roswell crashed, they shipped it to the laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. General McCasland was in charge of that exact laboratory up to a couple years ago.
He not only knows what I’m trying to achieve, he helped assemble my advisory team. He’s a very important man.
Best,
Tom DeLonge
And now…
Via: Men’s Journal:
Maj. Gen. William McCasland was the Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. In that position, he was “responsible for managing the Air Force’s $2.2 billion science and technology program as well as additional customer-funded research and development of $2.2 billion,” his U.S. Air Force bio says.
That’s a powerful position and, now, McCasland has mysteriously disappeared.
…
McCasland was also responsible “for a global workforce of approximately 10,800 people in the laboratory’s component technology directorates, 711th Human Performance Wing and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research,” his Air Force bio says.
…
“He commanded the Phillips site of Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland AFB, N.M., and served as Vice Commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center and the Space and Missile Systems Center. He previously served at the Pentagon, first as the Director, Space Acquisition, in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, and then as Director of Special Programs, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics,” the bio continues.

QATAR CEASES LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
March 2nd, 2026Via: OilPrice:
Qatar’s state-owned energy giant QatarEnergy has stopped all liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, shutting down the country’s entire LNG output after Iranian drone strikes hit its major facilities at Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. The shutdown removes roughly 20% of the world’s LNG supply from the market and sends ripples through already volatile global energy markets.

Motorola Announces a Partnership with GrapheneOS Foundation
March 1st, 2026This is mildly good news. It would be excellent news if baseband firmware is also going to be open source, but I doubt that will happen.
Via: Motorola:
Motorola, a Lenovo Company, announced the addition of new consumer and enterprise solutions to its portfolio today at Mobile World Congress. The company unveiled a partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation, to bring cutting-edge security to everyday users across the globe. In addition, Motorola introduced a new Moto Secure feature and Moto Analytics, to expand Motorola’s B2B ecosystem with advanced security and deeper operational insights for organizations across industries. Motorola is introducing a new era of smartphone security through a long?term partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation, the leading nonprofit in advanced mobile security and creators of a hardened, operating system based on the Android Open Source Project. Together, Motorola and the GrapheneOS Foundation will work to strengthen smartphone security and collaborate on future devices engineered with GrapheneOS compatibility.
Just One in Four Americans Supports U.S. Strikes on Iran
March 1st, 2026Perhaps Americans need a reminder of why they need to fight for Israel:
The FBI has issued a chilling warning to Americans as fears grow Iran will strike the US through its terrorist proxies.
FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence teams are on elevated alert across the country, according to an agency official.
Terrorism fears are surging in the wake of Donald Trump’s military strikes on Iran, as reports circulate that the Islamic regime’s supreme leader was killed.
Iran uses a network of proxy militant groups around the globe to carry out violent attacks against Western countries.
The FBI did not say how long the terror alert will remain in effect. Meanwhile, Kristi Noem said Homeland Security is ‘in direct coordination with our federal intelligence and law enforcement partners as we continue to closely monitor and thwart any potential threats to the homeland.’
Via: Reuters:
Only one in four Americans approves of the U.S. strikes that killed Iran’s leader, while about half — including one in four Republicans — believe President Donald Trump is too willing to use military force, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that concluded on Sunday.
Some 27% of respondents said they approved of the strikes, while 43% disapproved and 29% were not sure.

Lab-Grown Brains Growing More Powerful
March 1st, 2026Via: Futurism:
In a remarkable breakthrough published in the journal Cell Reports, researchers were able to effectively coach lab-grown brains into solving the “cart-pole” problem. The cart-pole problem is an engineering benchmark used in robotics, artificial intelligence — and now cognitive science — to measure how effective systems are at processing information.
The test basically involves balancing a broomstick upright on your palm. Gravity forces you to constantly adjust your position — move too much or not enough, and the broom falls. Every human needs to solve this problem in order to stand and walk upright. Luckily for us, we have our animal instincts (and more importantly, our inner ears) to guide us through; brain organoids have no such advantage.
Yet by coaxing their mini-brains with electrical signals guided by a reinforcement learning algorithm, the UCSC researchers were able to “coach” the organoids from a cart-pole “win” rate of just 4.5 percent to a whopping 46 percent.
“You could think of it like an artificial coach that says, ‘you’re doing it wrong, tweak it a little bit in this way,’” Ash Robbins, the study’s lead author said in a press release. “We’re learning how to best give it these coaching signals.”
In essence, their success proves that brain organoids are capable of goal-directed learning, similar to the kind of trial-and-error a toddler goes through as they learn to walk.
