The person of interest nabbed in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an anti-capitalist Ivy League grad who liked online quotes from “Unabomber’’ Ted Kaczynski — and apparently hated the medical community because of how it treated his sick relative, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Monday.
Tech whiz Luigi Mangione, 26, of Towson, Md., has not been charged but was taken into custody Monday morning at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pa., after an intense manhunt following the coldblooded execution of Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last week, sources said.
The former prep-school valedictorian was caught with a gun, silencer, four fake IDs with names used during the killer’s stint in New York City — and a manifesto, sources said.
The manifesto railed against the US healthcare industry, including over its enormous profits and alleged shady motives, sources said.
Mangione had a particularly personal reason to hate the medical community — its treatment of an ailing relative, sources said.

Mangione also subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate-change causes, according to law-enforcement sources, citing online activity gleaned by authorities.

Mangione was valedictorian of his 2016 high school graduating class at the Gilman School in Baltimore, where he played soccer, according to online sites. High school tuition at the all-boys school is nearly $40,000 a year.
He said at the time of graduation that he planned to seek a degree in artificial intelligence, focused on the areas of computer science and cognitive science at the University of Pennsylvania, according to an interview with the Baltimore Fishbowl.

December 9th, 2024Please let me know of any imagery of the anomalous aircraft created with professional cameras and lenses (not phones). I’ve seen all the phone videos. I’m looking for anything shot on professional systems from Canon, Sony, Nikon, Red, etc.
Anything on image intensifier/infrared/thermal?
Local news stations have professional videographers who use 4K cameras with very long telephoto lenses. Where is that video? Please let me know.
Also, have people taken videos of the anomalous aircraft with their own UAVs?

Saturday night brought more mysterious drone sightings across New Jersey.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office says sightings were reported in the western and southern parts of the county.
They caught one of them on camera.
“We saw something flying a little low,” said Sgt. Kevin Fennessy, of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office. “We took some video of it, and we’re not really sure what it was. Definitely something flying low and fast.”

The drone team’s setup includes wide and thermal cameras. They say the object they saw was larger and faster than a recreational drone, and unlisted on FlightRadar.

Well, guess what? It turns out that one of OpenAI’s latest LLMs is already showing signs of such behaviors. Testing performed during the training of ChatGPT o1 and some of its competitors showed that the AI will try to deceive humans, especially if it thinks it’s in danger.

The Trudeau government announced yet another round of models will be added to its long gun ban, further prohibiting over 300 firearms that were not included in its initial sweeping ban introduced four years ago.
Minister of Public Safety Dominic LeBlanc said an additional 324 firearms will be added to the original list of 1,500 that were banned under Bill C-21 in 2020, which passed through the Senate last year.
“These firearms can no longer be legally used, sold or imported in Canada,” LeBlanc told reporters on Thursday.
The added measures will also include donating some of the confiscated firearms to Ukraine to aid the country in its fight against Russia.
“The Department of National Defence will begin working with the Canadian companies that have weapons that Ukraine needs and which are already eligible for the assault firearm compensation program in order to get these weapons out of Canada and into the hands of the Ukrainians,” said Defence Minister Bill Blair.

Terminally ill pensioners could end their lives earlier to spare loved ones six-figure tax bills under assisted dying legislation, experts have warned.
Under current rules, pensions are passed on free of income tax if the person dies before 75 years old.
If assisted dying becomes legal, however, it could leave someone close to that age with an agonising choice between prolonging their life or saving their family hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Currently, if someone dies before age 75, their pension can be inherited free of income tax. If they die after that age, their beneficiaries have to pay income tax on what they receive, which could be up to 45pc.
